Car sales are meh right now. So, what do we all look like?
Here’s me. Sorry if it breaks your computer screen.
This was post 21 mile bike ride.

I like to maintain some pretense of anonymity around here, but I don’t think this can hurt anything but your brain.
Feel free to say anything you like.

Hi, bored at work, I’m Dad.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 13:25 |

Nice to meet you! As a dad, your dad jokes are spot on.

Such mysterious.

![]() 07/31/2020 at 13:29 |

My work was having some system issues so the most productive thing I did today was booking my haircut for tomorrow and then eating lunch.

I like to float around inside a mysteriously obscure dark orb and frighten lonely people who no one will believe. Just my thing.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 13:33 |

You don’t look anything like the last hooker I saw.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 13:34 |

Nailed it.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 13:36 |

Lunch. That's what I forgot today! Also, I need a hair cut too!

This was the best photo I could find of myself. Don’t laugh.

My rates are cheaper though I bet.

Took the day off to take the car into the shop for some warranty exhaust repairs. So, yeah, I’m bored too.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 13:38 |

I hate being bored. Like, I can't lose the money by leaving work. But I also would rather be kayaking or bike riding.

That is somehow not at all what I imagined you looking like.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 13:43 |

I know what you mean, I think that whenever I see an oppo irl or in a photo.
Also, to be fair, I'm in my ratty track volunteering hoodie and need a haircut
![]() 07/31/2020 at 13:44 |

What were you doing here?
![]() 07/31/2020 at 13:46 |

Working in my volunteer role as a c orner worker at our local road course!

I get the impression that everyone thought I was some sort of middle aged grade school teacher from my writing style, yet in reality I am a mysterious orb floating in the ether who lives to terrorize lonely farmers and conspiracy theorists.
Yes, I think the monochromatic clothing and mask (I approve) combined with an apparently disheveled hair and strangely peering expression shows a different side of you. A more carefree side, maybe, but not your usual side.
What really threw me were the soulful blue-green eyes.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 13:48 |

A little winded but I made it. Late March 2020
![]() 07/31/2020 at 15:21 |

I have a feeling the factory warranty would not cover that. It's actually more typical for an over engineered German car. The sport mode exhaust flap is jammed, so they have to replace the cat back with a new unit. I'm sitting at the dealer twiddling my thumbs now.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 15:25 |
|
Those damn Germans..... replacing thr cat back coz of a stuck flap ooof
![]() 07/31/2020 at 15:30 |
|
Yeah, clever engineering without designing it to be repairable. The latter part is a key difference I’ve noticed moving from a Japanese to German car.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 15:46 |
|
I’m sorry, did you ski UP the mountain? Because I’m pretty sure that’s a lot more effort than is intended by the skiing sport.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 15:52 |
|
Yes, skin it to win it. This is probably 1-2 weeks after the resort closed due to covid. Crazy, had one of the best pow days in April, knee deep on these super surfy atomic skis that I use for AT.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 15:54 |
|
So, what you’re saying is you’re in incredibly good shape! Haha. That honestly sounds fun! And here I thought my bike rides were challenging!
![]() 07/31/2020 at 15:58 |
|
It was a DD for several years when I was younger, but once I was finished with school, it became a sunny day driver, mostly weekend use. I’ve had the car since I was 18, it is a bit of a sentimental item now.
If you’re in the Seattle area, it could happen :)
![]() 07/31/2020 at 16:03 |
|
I can do one lap without dying. It’s about 1-1.5 hour climb with 3.5 mile, 2,300 vertical climbing. Then a 5 minute ski down...
![]() 07/31/2020 at 16:09 |
|
For some reason I pictured you as being older than you look. And with more blood alcohol poisoning.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 16:11 |
|
Ha! Now you have me curious about the image I project and what you thought I looked like.
This is more accurate
![]() 07/31/2020 at 16:13 |
|
lol im 36
![]() 07/31/2020 at 16:54 |
|
Seattle is so on the wrong coast! It’s beautiful though and I am so glad it has a forever home with you!
![]() 07/31/2020 at 16:55 |
|
5 minutes!?!?!
![]() 07/31/2020 at 16:57 |
|
Y es, that’s taking my time too. When we ski with the lift I can do the 2 or so miles down the front in the 3-4 minute range, cruising at 30-40 mph.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 17:00 |
|
I think I would be terrified. Though, down hill pedaling my ass off, I have maxed out at 40 mph before. I was scared but it didn’t stop me from doing it again.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 17:07 |
|
Skiing is a lot different that riding a bike down hill. There is no comparison. You have much more control on skis on smooth snow than on a road or trail. DH ski racers hit 70-80 mph routinely on skis. I can hit 60-70 on one run if the snow is right and I tuck it. At least that is what my gps says. If I stand up it feels like I ’m going to get blown over backwards.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 17:27 |
|
Still perhaps not what I expected.
The image you project is confident and artistic, I’d say, from w ell articulated and carefully thought out responses. Very detail oriented. Somehow y our first picture seems more like the Oppo you than the second one.
Just curious, what sort of person would you suppose I am based on my responses here?
![]() 07/31/2020 at 17:39 |
|
Old cars age better here! And thanks - unrestored photogenic car, the color and my mild clean car OCD helps, I think.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 17:46 |

My family has old fire trucks (not sure if you’ve seen. The latest is a 1966 Crown Firecoach and It’s becoming one of my passions. Fast. It is originally from the left coast and is remarkably well preserved. However, in desperate need of a paint job! No rust! We are in NC here.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 17:47 |
|
My interest has been piqued. I wonder if my knees would tolerate skiing? Hmm. Haha. I am going to Colorado at some point in my life and may attempt a lesson or two.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 18:01 |
|
Please take a lesson, that will make your skiing much more enjoyable. I take it for granted I’ve been skiing since a child so all of the balance and moves are second nature to me but if you have never been on skis it can go downhill quickly.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 19:48 |
|
Oh yeah I remember that. I see similar material on marketplace or CL now and then here, as it also survives. Fun stuff, and a lot of machinery for the money. I remember when I was a little kid (mid 80s maybe), the neighbor of my grandparents had an old fire truck, not sure what it was, but it appeared to be from the 20s. I recall being able to climb on it once.
Rust is rare on vehicles native to the area - little to no road salt, mild weather, not much harsh sun - 80s material is an everyday sight on the road here, and older stuff not too rare either. Maybe like NC without the humidity.

Ha! I’ve never been called artistic before.
I think based on your commenting/posts you seem like a good natured and humorous person. Young(er) than me, but not by much!
![]() 07/31/2020 at 23:33 |

Okay, maybe I am a little off there.
Yup, you are pretty spot on. I start college on campus in a little over a week and I am excited. Though I am more excited to finally have a little time to do whatever I feel like, whether that be nothing, nothing, or something.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 23:41 |

I think it is better without the context really
![]() 08/01/2020 at 00:06 |

They said to wear a mask at the store, I chose this and someone called the cops. I don’t understand.

You would be amazed at how much worse GM is at repair- ability...its a pita on my C5 at least
![]() 08/01/2020 at 09:44 |

That sounds like heaven. I will have to make it out there at some point! I hear literally nothing but good things!
![]() 08/01/2020 at 09:44 |

I sure will! Haha. Otherwise, I would likely hurt myself or worse! Thank you for the tips!
